The Spring is designed for use from when your little one is around 6 months old as the seat does not have a lie-flat recline, although there is an option to purchase car seat adaptors separately allowing you to use an infant carrier on it from birth and turn it into a travel system. The seating area is padded giving your little one a comfy ride and there is extra padding on the 5-point harness too. The seat does recline in case they get a bit sleepy and due to the design, can be set in any position that suits you. Built into the top of the seat when it is reclined is a mesh area with a magnetic cover, perfect for extra airflow in warmer weather.
The canopy comes in a range of colours, and it is possible to purchase other canopies separately so you can change the colour to suit your mood. In the canopy you will find an extended area built-in, simply open the zip to reveal; this also reveals a mesh area, great for checking on your little one or to simply add extra airflow.
Thule knows that you need about 10 pairs of hands when you have a little one, so they have designed a really simple one-hand fold, leaving one free to hold onto your child. Simply lift up the padding on the bottom of the seat to reveal a handle, lift it, click the blue button and hey presto! When it folds, the Spring uses an intuitive system that actually folds the wheels in towards the chassis, making the fold smaller still – perfect for smaller cars. The Spring also stands freely when it’s folded, which makes storing in your house or apartment even easier.
When your little one gets a little older, they can use the step-in footrest to enable them to climb into the seat themselves – toddlers love to do things on their own!
Moving onto the wheels, they are made from puncture-proof foam giving them a smooth ride on rougher surfaces. The front-wheel has built-in suspension for extra comfort and it can be set to swivel or to a fixed position depending on where you are travelling.
For parents, there is a height-adjustable handle which is easy to adjust using the button on the handle. There is also a wrist strap attached to the handle to give you extra security. On the back of the seat is a mesh pocket, this is perfect for keeping things like baby wipes to hand while the large basket underneath will hold 5kg, perfect for all the other paraphernalia you need with a little one.
